Using Body Cosmetics on a Daily Base - Pros & Cons

Skin Cosmetics include fragrances, cremes, lotions, natural oils, moisturizers, special shampoos, body soaps, and massage oils
What Are Body Cosmetics?
Broadly defined, body cosmetics are any types of cosmetic products that are applied generally to the body, not just to the hands or the face. These may be cosmetic skin care products, body cosmetics, fragrances, or natural oils and moisturizers. Furthermore, they may include special shampoos, body soaps, and massage oils.
Who Should Use Them?
Body cosmetics are for anyone who wants his or her body to look, feel, and smell great. Since body cosmetics can be found in natural varieties, these products are perfect for even the most fastidious “organic only” customers. Even men often find body cosmetics and cosmetic skin care products to be very helpful in maintaining a healthy and great-feeling body. Essentially speaking, body cosmetics are for any- and everyone.
However, when choosing body cosmetics you should be aware of the pros and cons.
Pro:
- Body cosmetics can make your skin feel healthier.
Use a full body moisturizer and your skin will never dry out. This may take the form of a standard moisturizer formula or it may be built from essential oils such as peppermint and tea tree. Natural moisturizers are becoming increasingly popular these days.
- Body cosmetics can improve the look and elasticity of your skin.
Many body cosmetic solutions come with important vitamins and supplements such as vitamin E and vitamin A, both of which improve the vibrancy of your skin. This way your skin will not only feel better, it will actually look more attractive as well.
- Essential oils will make your body smell soft and fragrant without using harmful chemicals.
Recently, cosmetic skin care products have been made more and more from natural elements such as essential oils which are not harmful to your body and do not have that "chemical" smell associated with products from past decades. These allow your body to smell clean and fresh, but don't force you to feel sterile and disconnected from the earth.
Contra:
- Some body cosmetics contain parabens.
Parabens are commonly used preservatives that have been a part of the body cosmetics and skin cosmetics industries for years. However, they are now thought to be linked to breast cancer in women. However, there is a simple solution to this. Simply do not buy cosmetic skin care products which contain parabens. More and more body cosmetics are being sold without them, so this should not really be very difficult.
- Some body cosmetics contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a chemical that is often contained in body cosmetic soaps, but recent studies have shown it to be harmful, especially to hair follicles. Once again, any body cosmetics containing SLS should be avoided, especially since non-SLS options are now so prevalent.
Most important when deciding which cosmetic skincare product is the best for you is to make sure that it is made especially for your type of skin. This way your skin will benefit the most.
