Successful Acne Prevention

Prevent acne by washing your face frequently Prevent acne by washing your face frequently

One of the biggest questions on the minds of many teenagers and adults around the world is: "How to Prevent Acne?" Sometimes the best way to treat acne is to stop it before it even starts. In this article we'll go into some of the better methods that you can use to prevent acne and enact the best acne prevention possible.

Wash your face frequently

Acne is partially caused by oils that tend to build up on the skin and clog your pores. This leads to bacteria deposits which become inflamed and appear as acne. Ideally, you should wash your skin two to three times during the day.

Wash After Strenuous Activities

Sometimes exercise can cause you to sweat and release oils onto the surface of your skin that can cause acne. For this reason, it is a good idea to always wash your face after any kind of work out, even if this is just taking a walk on a hot summer day.

Wash Your Pillow Case and Towels Regularly

This is another step in your understanding of how to prevent acne. As you sleep at night, your pillow case can become filled with oils and bacteria from your face. If you don't wash the pillowcase regularly, these particles will simply reattach themselves to your face again later. The same goes for towels when it comes to acne prevention. If you dry your face with a towel and fail to wash this towel regularly, it can become a breeding ground for acne causing bacteria.

Don't Wear Makeup to Bed

If you want to make acne prevention a reality, you absolutely cannot wear makeup to bed. If you wear makeup, always wash it off right before you sleep. If you don't, your pores will become clogged and you won't be able to fight against bacterial infection.

Don't Let Your Hair Lay Against Your Face During Sleep

It can be difficult to prevent acne if you have very long hair. It often brushes against your face while you sleep, depositing even more oils that can cause your pores to become clogged. To enact acne prevention, make sure to always keep your hair away from your face while you sleep.

Don't Use Gel or Hairspray

Hair products contain oils which make it hard to prevent acne. They tend to inflame and clog the skin, leading to more redness and visible pimples. If you simply can't live without hair products, at least try to keep them from getting on your face as you use them.

Use a Topical Cream Before You Get Acne

Topical creams such as those with a benzoyl peroxide base are effective not only in treating active acne, but also acne prevention. Use a topical cream periodically across any areas of your face where you normally experience breakouts. Popular benzoyl peroxide solutions include Proactive, Clearasil, Revitol, and many others.
